Prairie Pines hosts first annual benefit golf tournament
Prairie Pines Auxiliary hosted the first annual Prairie Pines Benefit Golf Tournament on September 29th for the purpose of buying new dining room chairs for the facility. The current chairs have been in the facility since it opened and are very worn.
The Auxiliary is delighted to report that enough money was raised to purchase the much-needed chairs. The Auxiliary would like to thank all the businesses and individuals who sponsored or donated to the cause.

The sponsors/donors were Tri County Farms, Weber’s Water Service, LP, Eads Consumer Supply, Roger and Loraine Saffer, Bill and Linda Trosper, Invenergy, Peterson Payne Agency, GNBank Eads & Lamar, Farm Credit Services of Southern Colorado, Crow’s Stop & Shop, LLC., Eads Auto Supply & Hardware LLC (NAPA), CWC Rail, Inc., Community State Bank, Kiowa Drug, Tom & Kim Richards, Lamar Eagles Auxiliary #3898, Golden Plains Insurance, Brown Funeral Home, Constance Weber, Wiley Processing, Sylway’s Liquor, Spreading Antlers Golf Course, Tower Liquor Store, Violet Sneyd, Dollar General, Frito Lay, Doris Lessenden, Kiowa County Press, and Mike and Deb Lening.
The tournament hosted 18 teams with prizes at each hole and a drawing for additional prizes after the tournament was finished. Each player received a goodie bag at registration.
Two teams tied for first place and had a play-off to see who moved into first place. John Philpy and Lester Barnes won the play-off to become the tournament champions. Tom and Kim Richards won 2nd place and Loren Patterson and Jacob Barnes won 3rd place.
The Auxiliary served a sloppy joe lunch with chips, cookies and a bottle of water.
We would like to thank the Eads Golf Club for allowing us to host this tournament and use their facilities! We couldn’t have done it without you!
We would also like to thank Sean Lening for helping set the tournament up, Marty Miller for helping with registration and scoring, Tricia and Emanuel Spencer for manning the 6th hole “Hole in One” contest and helping serve lunch, and Sharon Koch for bartending for the golf course. We would also like to thank Matt Harvey with Charity Golf Today for providing the 6th hole prize and for setting up the online sponsorship and registration site for the tournament.
Everyone that had a part in this tournament is greatly appreciated by the auxiliary and the Prairie Pines residents! You all had a hand in making this a very successful event!
