A graveside funeral service for longtime Prowers County farmer and rancher, Ray Hays, was held at 10:00 AM Monday April 25, 2016 at the Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar.  Bon May  officiated the service.

Visitation for Ray was held at the Peacock Family Chapel on Sunday April 24, 2016 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Ray was born on January 26, 1927 in Wiley, Colorado to Clarence Arthur Hays and Merle Gertrude Brown-Hays and departed this life on Tuesday April 19, 2016 at Prowers Medical Center in Lamar at the age of 89.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, by one son – Rex Hays, by his brother – Wayne Hays, and by his first wife – Mary Lou (Brase) Hays.

Ray is survived by his wife – Nadine Hays of Lamar; by his children – Randy (Patsy) Hays of Lamar; Veryl (Debbie) Hays of Loveland; Sharon Shinn of Loveland; Deby (John) Courkamp of Wiley; and Michele (Jeff) Warren of Ft. Collins; by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and by his sister Lorella Gadash of Lamar.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Lamar Area Hospice or to a charity of choice either directly or through the funeral home office.
