Red Flag Warning issued Friday; sunny weekend ahead in Eads
A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for Eads through Friday evening as gusty northwest winds combine with low humidity to create critical fire weather conditions. The period from Friday night through Sunday will bring mild, sunny weather with light winds and comfortable temperatures.
Friday brings mostly sunny skies and a high near 63°F. Winds are expected to gust up to 45 mph from the northwest, creating the hazardous fire weather conditions that prompted the Red Flag Warning which includes Kiowa County. The fire weather threat diminishes Friday evening as winds decrease and humidity slowly recovers.
"Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning." Stephen Hodanish, meteorologist with the National Weather Service Pueblo forecast office, wrote in Friday's Area Forecast Discussion.
Fire weather caution Friday
Relative humidity has fallen below 15 percent across the region, and strong northwest winds in the wake of an early Friday morning cold front are creating critical fire conditions. Any fire that develops could spread rapidly and become difficult to control. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, and extra caution should be used with any potential ignition sources.
