RRWCD to hold quarterly board meeting in Burlington

The Board of Directors of the Republican River Water Conservation District (RRWCD) will hold their quarterly board meeting in the conference meeting room in the Burlington Community and Education Center, located at 340 South 14th Street, Burlington, CO, 80807 on Tuesday, February 18, 2024, beginning at 10:00AM.  

The Board will review and vote on the minutes of the November 19, 2024, quarterly Board meeting and the minutes of the Board Retreat meeting held on January 9 & 10, 2025. 

Administrative reports to be given include the Board President’s report, the General Manager’s report, and the district financial report for the final quarter and year end of 2024.  There will also be an update on the South Fork Focus Zone, and a report on the operation of the Compact Compliance Pipeline from Pipeline Operator Tracy Travis. 

The Board will also receive reports from Board committees and associated organizations.  The RRWCD’s water engineer, state and federal lobbyists, and legal counsel will give updates to the Board.

The public comment session will be held at 1:00 PM. 

Republican River Basin Team Lead Commissioner, Chris Kucera, will give a report on water issues from his office.  

Local representatives for federal and state legislators will be invited to speak during the afternoon session. 

CSU Professor Jordan Suter and Professor Dale Manning will give an update on the status of the Economic Impact Study they are currently working on.

Payton Liming, RRWCD administrative assistant will report on the status of the podcast project.  Steve Kramer, RRWCD vice president, will report on the status of the export hearing with the Sandhills Ground Water Management District. 

Under Board Discussion & Action items, Reon McBride, office and finance manager, will present the 2025 Mileage Reimbursement rate. The Board will discuss and vote on potential water use fee concepts to take to the public.

If needed, the RRWCD Board of Directors will hold an executive session to receive legal advice on legal questions and litigation concerning water rights; to discuss and determine positions, develop strategies, and instruct negotiators concerning the purchase or lease of water rights; determine positions and instruct negotiators concerning water supply acquisition, receive legal advice on legal questions related to such agreements, contracts and easements, discuss program applications for matters such as the Compact Compliance Pipeline, Bonny Reservoir and personnel matters.
