Southeast Colorado weather: Late week cooling, rain
After several weeks with temperatures in the 90s and even a few 100s, the week ahead offers some reprieve after another warm start to the work week.
Sunday will continue to see highs in the mid- to upper 90s. Though thunderstorms are predicted west of Interstate 25, most of the eastern plains can expect drier conditions. Overnight, low temperatures in the mid-60 are in the forecast.
Mid-90s continue Monday, with lows in the mid-60s overnight. While much of the state may see scattered thunderstorms, the southeast corner is predicted to remain dry.
Chances for rain begin to increase Tuesday evening as the seasonal monsoonal flow spreads further to the plains. Storms may increase the risk for flash flooding and potential for hail. Daytime highs moderate slightly to the low to mid-90s, with overnight temperatures settling in to the low 60s.
Potential for rain and thunderstorms picks up Wednesday, particularly during the late evening and continuing into the early morning hours. There is a risk of heavy rainfall and additional flash flooding. Low 90s are forecast during the day, dropping to the low 60s at night.
Thunderstorms and rain are likely Thursday later in the day and overnight. Daytime highs fall to the mid-80s, with overnight temperatures expected to be around 60.
Low 80s are expected Friday, with the potential for rain continuing. Cooler temperatures are expected to last into the weekend.
