Cheyenne County deputies recovered two stolen Penske box trucks during separate traffic stops along Highway 40 late last month, leading to multiple arrests, according to the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office.

The first recovery occurred January 27, when a deputy stopped a stolen Penske truck near mile marker 460 on Highway 40. Authorities confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Aurora earlier in the month. The driver was taken into custody on charges of motor vehicle theft. Deputies also determined the driver had a non-extraditable warrant out of Texas related to a probation violation involving dangerous drugs.

Two days later, on January 29, deputies recovered a second stolen Penske truck near mile marker 475 on Highway 40. A male suspect was arrested and charged with second-degree motor vehicle theft. He was transported to the Kit Carson County Jail, where he was held on a $6,000 bond.

No injuries were reported in either incident, and both vehicles were safely recovered.

The information was released by the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office through its official Facebook page.
