Sunny weekend warm-up ahead for Eads and Kiowa County
Eads and the rest of Kiowa County are in line for a quiet, sunny weekend, with afternoon temperatures climbing from the lower 70s Saturday to near 80 degrees Sunday, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service in Pueblo.
Saturday is forecast to be sunny across the county with light west winds at 5 to 10 mph and an overnight low in the mid 30s. Sunday continues the warming trend under mostly sunny skies, with light westerly winds and a high near 80.
Building ridge brings dry, mild conditions
A meteorologist with the Pueblo forecast office wrote in Friday’s Area Forecast Discussion that an upper-level ridge will spread eastward into Colorado over the weekend, replacing the wetter, cooler pattern that produced rain across the plains and snow in the higher elevations earlier in the week.
“Upper level ridging will spread across Colorado over the weekend with continued warming,” the discussion noted. “Temperatures will warm through the 60s and 70s on Saturday, and into the 70s and 80s for Sunday. With the high pressure overhead, winds will be light across the region.”
Fire weather concerns are limited. The Pueblo office’s Fire Weather Planning Forecast issued Friday morning called for “no fire weather concerns through the next several days across the district,” and Kiowa County is not under any active fire weather watch or warning.

Looking ahead
The dry, mild stretch is expected to give way Monday as a weaker disturbance lifts across southern Colorado, followed by a more impactful storm system Tuesday into Wednesday. Forecasters say cooler temperatures and a chance of rain showers and thunderstorms will return to Kiowa County early next week.
