RESOLUTION #03-2026

"CANCEL 2026 MUNICIPAL ELECTION"

WHEREAS a general municipal election is scheduled for April 7, 2026, and

WHEREAS Ordinance 2.16.010 provides, "if, at the close of business on the 64th day before any general municipal election, there are not more candidates than offices to be filled at such election, including candidates filing write-in Affidavits of Intent, the Town Clerk, if instructed by resolution of the governing body either before or after such date, shall cancel the election and by resolution declare the candidates elected," and

WHEREAS the provision of said ordinance were adopted pursuant to and in conformity with Colorado Revised Statutes 31-10-507, and

WHEREAS it appears that 64 days prior to the April 7, 2026 election, there will not be more candidates than offices to be filled at such election, including write-in candidates filing Affidavits of Intent,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado that if, at the close of business sixty-four days prior to the election, there are not more candidates than offices to be filled at such election, including candidates filing Write-In Affidavits of Intent, the Town Clerk shall cancel the municipal election scheduled for April 7, 2026 and declare the following candidates elected.
