Union Pacific releases Big Boy No 4014 2024 Westward Bound Tour schedule
Union Pacific has released the schedule for Big Boy No. 4014’s “Westward Bound Tour” to Roseville, California, and back, which runs June 30 through July 26, and will include one excursion — July 14 from Roseville to Sparks, Nevada.
Big Boy No. 4014, the world’s largest operating steam locomotive built to conquer mountains, will make 19 whistle-stops in five states this summer during its 2024 Westward Bound Tour from Wyoming to California.
Whistle-stop locations on the train’s outbound trip include Laramie, Wyoming, on June 30; Wamsutter, Wyoming, on July 1; Green River, Wyoming, on July 3; Morgan, Utah, on July 4; Wells, Nevada, on July 6; Carlin and Battle Mountain, Nevada, on July 8; Gerlach, Nevada, on July 9; and Oroville, California, on July 11.
Return-trip whistle stops will include Colfax and Truckee, California, during the excursion on July 14; Lovelock, Nevada, on July 6; Carlin, Nevada, on July 17; Montello, Nevada, on July 19; Brigham City, Utah, and Soda Springs, Idaho, on July 22; Kemmerer, Wyoming, on July 23; Point of Rocks, Wyoming, on July 25, and Medicine Bow, Wyoming, on July 26.
In addition, this mighty steam locomotive will be on public display for two days each in Roseville, California, July 12-13, and Ogden, Utah, July 20-21.
