MUCH NEEDED MOISTURE RECEIVED
What a blessing the snow and rain was last week. Here at the office, we received approximately 10 inches of snow and close to 3 inches of moisture. The snow didn’t reach too far south of Eads or east of Eads, however they received rain, so those areas weren’t left out.
There is a lot of grain sorghum still in the fields, but the winter wheat sure looks good.
If any ranchers suffered any losses with livestock, contact the FSA office for more information.
COUNTY COMMITTEE ELECTION
Eligible voters in LAA or Local Administrative Area 2, which is the central area of Kiowa County, should be receiving a ballot to vote in the County Committee election. Ballots must be postmarked by December 2 to be counted. Ballots will be counted at the FSA Office on Tuesday, December 10th. Candidates in Kiowa County this year are Mellissa Jones and Hayden Uhland. The winner will be replacing Destiny (Duff) Haase on the committee. Duff has served 3 consecutive – 3-year terms and has reached the term limitation.
NAP DEADLINE - DECEMBER 2nd
Monday, December 2nd is the deadline for producers to purchase an application for coverage on a CCC-471 form on grass with the intended use of grazing for crop year 2025. The cost is $325.00 per producer, unless the producer has filed a CCC-860, Socially Disadvantaged, Limited Resource and Beginning Farms or Rancher Certification. Producers with a CCC-860 on file are automatically eligible for basic 50/55 NAP coverage on eligible crops.
For information regarding NAP coverage call the FSA office or visit www.Farmers.gov.
