(Colorado Newsline) Ohio Republican Senator J.D. Vance Thursday agreed to an October 1 vice presidential debate against Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz on CBS News.

Walz agreed to the October debate invitation from CBS Wednesday. It will take place in New York City.

Vance also argued for more debates against Walz, including one on CNN September 18.

“Not only do I accept the CBS debate on October 1st, I accept the CNN debate on September 18th as well,” he wrote on X. “I look forward to seeing you at both.”

The Harris-Walz campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

September 18 is also the date that GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is scheduled for his sentencing in his hush money trial, in which he was convicted on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in an attempt to conceal payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels in an effort to influence the 2016 presidential election.

In a letter dated Wednesday, but made public Thursday, attorneys for Trump asked the judge overseeing his sentencing to delay it until after the presidential election, according to CNN. 

Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris are scheduled for a presidential debate September 10, hosted by ABC News.
