Weather Outlook – the Week Ahead: Sub-freezing and Snow Potential
By Chris Sorensen
After two relatively warm days to start the new year, temperatures will drop below the freezing mark at least through Friday night.
Sunday and Monday will be mostly sunny with above-seasonal highs in the mid- to upper 40s. Overnight lows will be in the low teens to 20s.
Once the temperature drops below freezing Monday night, don’t look for warmer temperatures to return before Saturday as a cold air mass drops into the area. The high will be in the mid- to upper 20s Tuesday and Wednesday, with overnight lows falling to the mid-single digits.
A chance of snow enters the forecast Wednesday, and increases overnight, continuing into Thursday.
Temperatures are expected to fall to the low single digits Thursday night after a daytime high in near 20. Upper 20s will return for Friday’s high.
Saturday is currently expected to warm to the mid-30s to break the cold spell.
