Work to Begin on Colorado 96 Near Boone

Guardrail replacement and shoulder widening will result in safer ride

The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin work on Colorado Highway (CO) 96 near the town of Boone to upgrade guardrail, widen shoulders and update signage, and install new delineators in the area.

Project work begins at mile marker (MM) 85.44 and extends approximately one mile to MM 86.33. All work on the project will be completed by December 2016. Tricon 2 of Castle Rock, CO will perform as the prime contractor on this $873,500 project.

TRAVEL IMPACTS: Travelers should expect single lane closures and possible traffic delays during road improvements. Construction work hours will run from sunrise to sunset Monday through Friday and there is no weekend work planned for this project. Speeds will be reduced to 25 MPH and there will be no width restrictions in place during working hours.
