The Kiowa County Hospital District Board met in special session on August 3, 2022, at 6:32 pm at the Cobblestone Inn Meeting Room. 

District Board members present were: Mary Eikner, Pam Cole, Karl Eikenberg, Doug Uhland, and Matt Prince. 

Others present: Rachel Bletzacker, Renay Crain, Jeanette Filpi, Shannon Dixon, and Beth Spady. 

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which owns John Martin Reservoir, is planning to do routine maintenance work on its dam starting September 27.

Wyoming has among the highest job resignation rates in the country, according to a new report.

William Sigurd “Willie” Olsen, 84, of La Junta passed away September 12, 2022, at the Pioneer Health Care Center in Rocky Ford. 

He was born November 6, 1937, in Flagler, Colorado to Sigurd and Evelyn (Benson) Olsen. He was the first baby in the family born in a hospital – which, at the time, was the most modern hospital between Denver and Kansas City.  

olorado Governor Polis appointed Katharine E. Lum and Karl L. Schock to the Colorado Court of Appeals.

The Regular meeting of the Kiowa County Commissioners was called to order on August 25, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Donald Oswald. Commissioner Lening opened the meeting with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
