At a time when public-spirited Coloradans should be rallying together to help our state's businesses get back into high gear, "progressive" Democrats at the State Capitol are instead practicing opportunism at its worst by slapping a fresh coat of paint on their pre-COVID agenda.

Colorado Senators push to freeze automatic increases to legislator salaries, per diem pay

(The Center Square) - Senate Republicans are pushing to freeze automatic increases to lawmaker salaries and per diem pay as the state slashes its budget because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Monday, Senate Minority Leader Chris Holbert, R-Parker, said on the Senate floor that he hopes two bills - one freezing increases to lawmakers' per diem pay and another freezing automatic salary increases - will get late filing approvals from majority leadership in the Senate.

Republicans have submitted late bill requests for both pieces of legislation.

In a 5-4 decision, the United States Supreme Court has upheld California's restrictions on attendance at religious services due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Chief Justice John Roberts cast the deciding vote.
