70+ degree temperature swing last week in southeast Colorado
Temperatures across southeast Colorado have varied widely over the past week, from negative overnight lows to spring-like day time highs.
Tuesday night, the Kiowa County Press weather station in Eads recorded a low of -20, followed by a high of 50 Wednesday, warming further to 55 Thursday. The same week last year had an official high of 66.
Colder temperatures returned Friday and Saturday, with highs of 26 and 33, respectively.
Though overnight lows will continue to drop into the 20s this week, high temperatures return again to around 50 Sunday, continuing in the mid- to upper 40s through at least next Saturday. Low to mid-50s are possible to start the following week.
Sunny days and partly cloudy nights are predicted over the coming week, with no precipitation on the horizon. Wind is generally expected to remain in the 5-10 mile per hour range.
Despite receiving some snow in Kiowa County to start the year, official records in Eads show only 0.07 inches of moisture. That compares to 0.24 inches for the same period in 2023.
