Ag stats: Kansas crop progress and condition report – week ending September 19, 2021
For the week ending September 19, 2021, there were 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 14% very short, 35% short, 50% adequate, and 1% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 14% very short, 32% short, 53% adequate, and 1% surplus.
Field Crops Report: Winter wheat planted was 13%, near 12% last year and 11% for the five-year average. Emerged was 1%, equal to both last year and average.
Corn condition rated 7% very poor, 12% poor, 25% fair, 46% good, and 10% excellent. Corn dented was 93%, near 95% last year and 94% average. Mature was 62%, near 64% both last year and average. Harvested was 20%, ahead of 15% last year, and near 19% average.
Soybean condition rated 3% very poor, 8% poor, 28% fair, 55% good, and 6% excellent. Soybeans setting pods was 95%, near 97% both last year and average. Dropping leaves was 36%, behind 46% last year, but near 34% average.
Sorghum condition rated 4% very poor, 9% poor, 29% fair, 50% good, and 8% excellent. Sorghum coloring was 89%, near 90% last year and 87% average. Mature was 37%, ahead of 30% last year and 25% average. Harvested was 5%, near 2% last year and 4% average.
Cotton condition rated 0% very poor, 2% poor, 37% fair, 56% good, and 5% excellent. Cotton bolls opening was 46%, ahead of 39% last year and 33% average.
Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 7% very poor, 15% poor, 36% fair, 40% good, and 2% excellent.
