Ag stats: May 2021 mountain states grain stocks report

ARIZONA 

Off-farm corn stocks in Arizona on June 1, 2021 were 1.88 million bushels, down 14 percent from June 1, 2020, according to the June 1 Agricultural Survey and June Grain Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. Off-farm barley stocks totaled 28,000 bushels, down 3 from last year. Off-farm all wheat stocks in Arizona on June 1, 2021 were 2.23 million bushels, up less than one-half percent from last year. Other Arizona grain stocks were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations. 

COLORADO 

All corn stocks in Colorado on June 1, 2021 were 33.27 million bushels, down 31 percent from June 1, 2020, according to the June 1 Agricultural Survey and June Grain Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. All corn stocks stored on farms amounted to 17.00 million bushels, down 39 percent from a year ago. All corn stored off farms amounted to 16.27 million bushels, down 19 percent from a year ago. Off-farm sorghum stocks were 1.89 million bushels, up 175 percent from last year. Off-farm oat stocks in Colorado were estimated at 45,000 bushels, up 67 percent from last year. Off-farm barley stocks totaled 2.90 million bushels, down 31 percent from last year. 

All wheat stocks in Colorado on June 1, 2021 were 18.53 million bushels, down 18 percent from June 1, 2020. All wheat stocks stored on farms amounted to 4.10 million bushels, up 3 percent from a year ago. All wheat stored off farms amounted to 14.43 million bushels, down 23 percent from a year ago. Other Colorado grain stocks were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations. 

MONTANA 

Off-farm corn stocks in Montana on June 1, 2021 were 52,000 bushels, up 8 percent from June 1, 2020, according to the June 1 Agricultural Survey and June Grain Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. All oat stocks in Montana on June 1, 2021 were estimated at 475,000 bushels, down 11 percent from last year. Oats stored on-farm were down 10 percent from last year to 450,000 bushels. Off-farm oat stocks were 25,000 bushels, down 19 percent from a year ago. Montana barley stocks in all positions on June 1, 2021 were 18.10 million bushels, down 5 percent from a year ago. Barley stored on farms totaled 9.00 million bushels, down 1 percent from last year. Off-farm barley stocks were down 8 percent from a year ago to 9.10 million bushels. 

All wheat stocks in Montana on June 1, 2021 were 55.74 million bushels, down 21 percent from June 1, 2020. All wheat stocks stored on farms amounted to 32.50 million bushels, down 29 percent from a year ago. All wheat stored off farms amounted to 23.24 million bushels, down 9 percent from a year ago. Durum wheat stocks on June 1, 2021 were 6.59 million bushels, down 24 percent from last year. Durum wheat stored on farms amounted to 4.80 million bushels and Durum wheat stored off farms amounted to 1.79 million bushels. Other Montana grain stocks were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations.

New Mexico grain stocks on June 1, 2021 were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations. 

UTAH 

Off-farm oat stocks in Utah on June 1, 2021 were 12,000 bushels, according to the June 1 Agricultural Survey and June Grain Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. Off-farm all wheat stocks in Utah on June 1, 2021 were 3.71 million bushels, down 12 percent from last year. Other Utah grain stocks were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations. 

WYOMING 

Wyoming grain stocks on June 1, 2021 were not published separately to avoid disclosing data for individual operations. 

UNITED STATES 

Corn stocks in all positions on June 1, 2021 totaled 4.11 billion bushels, down 18 percent from June 1, 2020. Of the total stocks, 1.74 billion bushels are stored on farms, down 39 percent from a year earlier. Off-farm stocks, at 2.37 billion bushels, are up 11 percent from a year ago. The March - May 2021 indicated disappearance is 3.58 billion bushels, compared with 2.95 billion bushels during the same period last year. 

Grain sorghum stored in all positions on June 1, 2021 totaled 40.8 million bushels, down 44 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks, at 1.95 million bushels, are down 77 percent from last year. Off-farm stocks, at 38.9 million bushels, are down 39 percent from June 1, 2020. The March - May 2021 indicated disappearance from all positions is 96.1 million bushels, up 4 percent from the same period last year. 

Old crop oats stored in all positions on June 1, 2021 totaled 38.0 million bushels, 3 percent above the stocks on June 1, 2020. Of the total stocks on hand, 12.5 million bushels are stored on farms, 25 percent above a year ago. Off-farm stocks totaled 25.5 million bushels, 4 percent below the previous year. Indicated disappearance during March - May 2021 totaled 13.4 million bushels, 23 percent above the same period a year ago. 

Old crop barley stocks in all positions on June 1, 2021 totaled 71.8 million bushels, down 11 percent from June 1, 2020. On-farm stocks are estimated at 21.4 million bushels, 15 percent below a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 50.4 million bushels, are 9 percent below June 1, 2020. The March - May 2021 indicated disappearance is 48.7 million bushels, 39 percent above the same period a year earlier. 

Old crop all wheat stored in all positions on June 1, 2021 totaled 844 million bushels, down 18 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks are estimated at 142 million bushels, down 38 percent from last year. Off-farm stocks, at 702 million bushels, are down 12 percent from a year ago. The March - May 2021 indicated disappearance is 467 million bushels, up 21 percent from the same period a year earlier. 

Old crop Durum wheat stocks in all positions on June 1, 2021 totaled 27.5 million bushels, down 34 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks, at 13.5 million bushels, are down 24 percent from June 1, 2020. Off-farm stocks totaled 14.0 million bushels, down 42 percent from a year ago. The March - May 2021 indicated disappearance of 14.7 million bushels is up 55 percent from the same period a year earlier. 

Soybeans stored in all positions on June 1, 2021 totaled 767 million bushels, down 44 percent from June 1, 2020. On-farm stocks totaled 220 million bushels, down 65 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 547 million bushels, are down 27 percent from a year ago. Indicated disappearance for the March - May 2021 quarter totaled 795 million bushels, down 9 percent from the same period a year earlier. 

Pulse crops stored in all positions on June 1, 2021 and the change from June 1, 2020 are: dry edible peas, 3.30 million cwt, down 49 percent; lentils, 1.84 million cwt, up 1 percent; all chickpeas, 2.54 million cwt, down 35 percent; small chickpeas, 773 thousand cwt, down 45 percent; and large chickpeas, 1.77 million cwt, down 29 percent. Small chickpeas are defined as peas that will pass through a 20/64 inch round hole screen. Large chickpeas are defined as larger than 20/64 inches.
