Ag stats: September 2021 USDA mountain states chickens and eggs report
COLORADO
Colorado egg production during September 2021 was 116.3 million eggs, down 7 percent from August 2021 and down 10 percent from September 2020 production, according to the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA.
The average number of layers on hand in September 2021 was 4.67 million, down 1 percent from August 2021 and down 9 percent from last year. Eggs per 100 layers were 2,490 eggs, down less than 1 percent from last year.
UTAH
Utah egg production during September 2021 was 148.9 million eggs, down 2 percent from August 2021 but up 25 percent from September 2020 production, according to the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA.
The average number of layers on hand during September 2021 was 5.76 million, up less than half a percent from August 2021 and up 17 percent from last year. Eggs per 100 layers were 2,586 eggs, up 6.4 percent from last year.
UNITED STATES
United States egg production totaled 9.18 billion during September 2021, up 1 percent from last year. Production included 7.94 billion table eggs, and 1.24 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.17 billion were broiler-type and 71.2 million were eggtype. The average number of layers during September 2021 totaled 386 million, up slightly from last year. September egg production per 100 layers was 2,379 eggs, up 1 percent from September 2020.
Total layers in the United States on October 1, 2021 totaled 387 million, up slightly from last year. The 387 million layers consisted of 322 million layers producing table or market type eggs, 61.9 million layers producing broiler-type hatching eggs, and 2.89 million layers producing egg-type hatching eggs. Rate of lay per day on October 1, 2021, averaged 79.5 eggs per 100 layers, up 1 percent from October 1, 2020.
Egg-Type Chicks Hatched Down 2 Percent Egg-type chicks hatched during September 2021 totaled 49.2 million, down 2 percent from September 2020. Eggs in incubators totaled 46.2 million on October 1, 2021, down 1 percent from a year ago. Domestic placements of egg-type pullet chicks for future hatchery supply flocks by leading breeders totaled 289 thousand during September 2021, up 44 percent from September 2020.
Broiler-Type Chicks Hatched Down 1 Percent Broiler-type chicks hatched during September 2021 totaled 802 million, down 1 percent from September 2020. Eggs in incubators totaled 695 million on October 1, 2021, up 4 percent from a year ago. Leading breeders placed 9.62 million broiler-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during September 2021, down 1 percent from September 2020.
