Well, we are back from Thanksgiving vacation. Staff and students have had a chance to recharge for the remaining weeks of the second quarter and end of the first semester. Boy, has the first half of the year gone by quickly!

Before the students left for Turkey Day, the high school knowledge team competed at the Manzanola Knowledge Meet November 17, placing eighth out of 14 A Teams. Way to improve, guys! Their next meet won’t be until January 12 at Kit Carson.

Our senior, Elijah Harkness, sold honey at the Weisbrod Memorial Hospital Bazaar November 18. If you are in need of honey for the holidays or any time, contact him or his sponsor, Miss Greenfield, at Plainview School, 719-729-3331.

The junior high knowledge bowl team competed at Flagler December 1 and will be at Springfield December 8. The high school indoor track teams had its first meet November 30 at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden. Good luck, Hawks!

This Friday’s enrichment program (December 1) involved pine box derby car racing. The students made their cars before the break.

Next week the junior high basketball team will have two home games:  December 4 with Holly and December 7 with Cheyenne Wells. There will be a concession stand, so come and enjoy some good food!
