American Legion Post #125 annual dinner was held on Friday, November 11, 2016 in the Community Room at the Kiowa County court house.  The dinner was catered by JJ’s Restaurant.  Jennifer and her crew did a wonderful job of preparing and serving the meal.

There was a short meeting conducted by Post Commander Dan Richards going over the minutes, treasurer’s report and discussing upgrading the Legion Hall.  Areta Laird discussed applying for the Honor Flight to Washington DC.  Don McCoin went on this flight a few years ago and had a wonderful time.

Commander Richards also discussed the Historic Preservation Plaque that was placed in front of the Legion Hall this year.  The Legion Hall was constructed in 1938 and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Nominations of officers for 2017 were requested.  The current officers are retained for the up coming year.  They are Post Commander, Dan Richards.  Secretary Treasurer, Roland Sorensen.  Sgt of Arms, Areta Blooding-Laird.

Several donations were received this year in support of our Veteran’s and our post.  The following made donations to the Legion this year.  Bill and Jacklyn Koehler, Bill and Linda Trosper, Ron and Lori Healey, Terry and Areta Laird, Dick and Sharon Scott, June Weeks, Bunny Larrew and June Blooding, Denis and Theresa Weber and the Kiowa County Veteran’s office.  Thank you all for your support.
