High school students in eastern Colorado have until September 18, 2026, to apply for a congressional nomination to attend a United States service academy, according to the office of Representative Lauren Boebert.

The application period for nominations to the Class of 2031 is now open for students living in Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District, which includes much of rural eastern Colorado.

Students seeking admission to the United States Military Academy, United States Naval Academy or United States Air Force Academy must reside in the Fourth Congressional District and receive a nomination from a member of Congress or another authorized source as part of the application process. Students from outside the district may apply for the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

“Last year I had the privilege of nominating 38 of the Fourth District’s best and brightest to the U.S. Service Academies,” said Representative Lauren Boebert. “These patriotic young men and women who care deeply about the future of America and public service have committed to serving at least five years in the military following graduation. I look forward to the selection process this year and can’t wait to meet our district’s applicants who are willing to serve our great country!”

Members of Congress may nominate candidates to four of the five service academies: the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York; the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs; and the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York.

The United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut does not require a congressional nomination.
