A pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 139 at milepost 1 south of Loma, Colorado, at approximately 2:12 a.m. on August 24, 2026, and the Colorado State Patrol is asking the public to help identify the vehicle responsible.

Preliminary reports indicate the 35-year-old male victim was seated in the middle of the northbound lane when an unknown vehicle traveling northbound struck him and dragged him approximately 130 feet before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.

The Mesa County Coroner will release the identity of the deceased once next of kin has been notified.

The vehicle of interest is described as a light-colored SUV-type vehicle. The Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crime Unit is leading the investigation.
