The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control announced June 18, 2026, that its Bell 205 helicopter, N3804C, has returned to full operational service following a small cockpit fire that occurred during operations on the Hidden Creek Fire on June 16.

A maintenance assessment determined the cockpit fire was caused by a faulty battery relay. A new relay was installed on-site, and the aircraft was cleared and flown back to its home base in Canon City the following day.

As a precautionary measure, maintenance teams also inspected the battery relay on the agency's other Bell 205 helicopter to ensure fleet-wide safety.

As of Thursday, helicopter N3804C has been returned to active service and is assigned to the KO Fire burning in Fremont County.
