Dollar General Corporation has announced its location on the east side of Eads has opened. The store offers food, cleaning supplies, paper products, over-the-counter medicines, hygiene products, and baby items among other name brand and store label items.

The store is open from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. seven days per week. According to the company’s web site, the store is one of more than 20,000 stores in 48 states. About one quarter of the stores also carry fresh produce. The company employs about 185,000 people and had sales of $38.7 billion in fiscal year 2023.

Dollar General plans to employ six to 10 people at the new location.

The company said it will celebrate the store opening by donating 100 books to a “nearby” elementary school for students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. Schools, nonprofit organizations and libraries within a 15-mile radius of the store are now eligible to apply for Dollar General Literacy Foundation grants, which has awarded more than $238 million in grants since 1993.
