The driver of a semi tractor trailer was found dead Monday at the Love’s Truck Stop in Eads.

According to a statement Sunday from Kiowa County Coroner Jimmy Brown, staff from the Coroner’s Office was called to the truck stop shortly after noon Monday by the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office.

A person was reported dead in the vehicle, and had been discovered by the truck stop manager. The manager had been contacted by a dispatcher for the trucking company asking for a welfare check on the driver of the vehicle.

The man was later identified as John Kasey Barkmann of Dickinson, Texas. He died of natural causes.
