Eads Board of Trustees meeting minutes - April 13, 2021

The Regular Meeting of the Town of Eads Board of Trustees was called to order by Mayor Shields, Tuesday April 13, 2021 at 4:55 p.m. in the Town Hall. Town Clerk, Robin Fox, took roll call:

  • Mayor – Joe D. Shields- Present
  • Trustees – Present – Dennis Pearson, Kathy McCracken, 
  • Karl Eikenberg, Justin McLoud, and Terry Riley
  • Absent – Meghan Buck 
  • Town Clerk- Robin Fox –Present
  • Assistant Clerk- Barbara Scranton-Present
  • Director of Public Works- Van Brown- Present
  • Town Attorney – Lance Clark - Absent
  • Guests Present –           

Minutes­- Terry Riley motioned to approve the minutes as amended. Kathy McCracken seconded, motion passed unanimously. 

Approval of Bills – The finance committee reviewed the bills prior to the meeting. Kathy McCracken motioned to approve payment of the bills ($64,913.14 Water, $17,762.12 Utility, $58,203.57 General, $153.29 Conservation, $2,240.00 Airport: $143,272.12 Total). Justin McLoud seconded, motion passed unanimously. 

Old Business:

Employee Handbook- The Board of Trustees was presented with the final version of the revised Employee Handbook. Justin McLoud motioned to approve and adopt the handbook. Dennis Pearson seconded, motion passed unanimously. 

Lagoon Liner – This is still a work in progress. Expecting to have it done in July or August. 

New Business: 

Swimming Pool – A new company, Carrothers Construction Company would like to talk to the Board of Trustees about a new pool. Town Clerk, Robin Fox will invite them to attend the next regular meeting. 

The Prairie Pines Board of Trustees would like to meet with the Town of Eads Board of Trustees for a work session to discuss the possibility of swimming lessons using the pool and the Prairie Pines facilities. The work session is set for April 22, 2021.

Snow Plowing– Trustees Karl Eikenberg and Justin McLoud reported they have received complaints about the streets not being plowed for the last few snow storms. The Director of Public Works was asked to make one pass in the center of each street when there is 3 to 4 inches of snow.

Curb and Gutter – Trustee Karl Eikenberg asked the Director of Public Works, Van Brown about the cost of Curb and Gutter. Van talked to a contractor and was given an estimate of $22.00 a square foot. Van reminded the Board of Trustees that the expense of Curb and Gutter is the responsibility of the property owner.

LCC Scholarship – Lamar Community College has asked again for the annual donation to contribute to a Scholarship. Town Clerk, Robin Fox let the Board know that each year they contribute $500.00. Justin McLoud motioned to contribute $500 to the LCC Scholarship. Kathy McCracken seconded, motion passed unanimously.

Adjournment- Terry Riley motioned to adjourn the meeting. Karl Eikenberg seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned at 5:50pm.
