Eads Middle School Knowledge Bowl Competes at Campo
The Eads Middle School Knowledge Bowl teams left bright and early to make the trek to Campo for a recent competition.
Eighth grade students Eric Murdock, Karsten Buller, and Sophie Mitchell were joined by seventh grader Jayson Bletzacker in the eighth-grade division.
Their written round score was not what they were hoping for and the first oral round did not go particularly well. However, the team members redeemed themselves in the final two oral rounds.
In a well-balanced effort, they scored 11 points in the second oral round and had a meet-high 17 points in the final round.
But the damage had been done in the written round and the team did not earn enough points to place in the top three.
The Eads seventh grade team walked away with the win, outscoring the second-place team by 11 points. Team members were Kinsley Williams, Tucker Wallace, Kennedy Gyurman, and Anthony Paez.
They had the second-highest written round score in the seventh-grade division, then followed that with three very strong oral rounds.
The team was the only one in the entire meet to score in double digits in every round.
