It was a very exciting weekend of basketball games in the 1A and 2A District tournaments. Cora Coffman and I went down Tuesday and Thursday for the games. She went back on Saturday with her daughter Sheila Brase and her husband, Jeff. Others we saw at the games were: The Marvin Koeller family; Larry Koeller family; Harley Koeller family; Gary Tuttle; Cheri Hopkins; Susan Greenfield; Tina Kraft and the Jay Wilson family. Congratulations to the boys teams from Kit Carson, Cheraw and Cheyenne Wells and the girls teams from Kit Carson, McClave and Eads. These teams will be traveling to Colorado Springs this weekend to compete in the Regional tournament. We wish them all the best in their endeavors to advance onto the state tournament.
Evan and Jen Hopkins and children and Cheri Hopkins took in the basketball games on Saturday evening at the Community Building.
Merle and Carol Shalberg and Denis and Theresa Weber attended the 2A basketball games at the Wellness Center on Saturday evening. Congratulations to the boys teams from Holly, Wiley and Walsh and the girls teams from Springfield, Kim and South Baca. These teams will also be traveling to the Springs to compete in the Regional tournament.
Cora Coffman's sister, Sally Bradstreet of Scott City, KS came to visit her on Sunday and they spent the afternoon visiting other family members.
Last Sunday, around forty friends and family members gathered at the home of Dick and Sharon Scott to help Mary Huddleston celebrate her upcoming 94th birthday. Those attending were: Randy and Jan Carney and Mike Huddleston of Burlington; Larry Huddleston and Donna Huddleston of Lamar; Jason and Kristen Huddleston and children of Colorado Springs; Clint and Ann(Harkness) Ellis of Garden City; Gilbert Bishop and Tom Scott of Tribune; Ian and Jerene DeBono of Granada; Gina Dechant and children of Kit Carson; Merle and Carol Shalberg and Denis and Theresa Weber of Sheridan Lake and Larry and Judy Tuttle, Bernice Tuttle, Fran Harrington, Sandra Stum, Linly, Sherell and Savannah Stum, Cheri Hopkins, Linda Stum, Trevor Carney, Kayle Schneider, Zelpha Deines, Dick, Kyle and I, all of Towner. It was a very enjoyable afternoon of visiting. Thanks to all who came and made her day very special.
Last Friday, Merle, Carol and Greg Shalberg traveled to Lakin, KS to watch Merle and Carol’s grandson Dawsen play basketball.
On Sunday, dinner guests of Merle and Carol were: grandson Brock Shalberg and wife Beth and their daughter Livia; Lori Shalberg; Greg and Penni Shalberg and children, Kase and Kyler and Bill and Charlotte Woelk.
Our son Tom and I had dinner with my Mom, Mary Huddleston at the Legacy on her actual birthday, Feb.24th. They had decorated the tables with balloons and we brought a cake to share with everyone. The party continues!!
I attended the dinner and graveside services for my cousin John Huddleston on Saturday in Tribune, KS. John was living in Wichita, KS at the time of his death.
Susan Greenfield; Ruth Fees; Rebecca Beason and Cynthia Lewis went to Holly Sunday evening to the movie.
