Our communities would like to extend their condolences to Randy Carney and family on the loss of his father last Thursday.

Also, our condolences to Denis Weber and family on the death of his sister, Leona Blackwelder.

Denis and Theresa Weber's granddaughter, Lexi Knutson, came last weekend to visit and attend the car show at the Holly Fair with her uncle, Jerry.

The Harris clan gathered at the home of Rick and Kim Harris for dinner Sunday to help Kim celebrate her birthday. Happy birthday Kim! After dinner, everyone went to the pumpkin patch that Rick and Kim sponsor. It is open Sundays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. through October and they offer goodie bags; face painting; picture taking and hay rides. Around 100 people enjoyed the afternoon there from surrounding communities. Sounds like a lot of fun!!

There will be a bridal shower for Mikayla Schmidt October 13 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Sheridan Lake Bible Church. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Ulys and Verna Aeschliman were guest speakers at the Sheridan Lake Bible Church Sunday. They are missionaries and will be returning to Papua, New Guinea, to work sometime in October.

Larry and Judy Tuttle went to Denver Thursday to consult with Judy's doctor Thursday evening, Pastor Larry and Barb Gitchel spent the night with Larry and Judy. Pastor Larry helped with the funeral services for Seth Splitter Friday. Saturday, Larry and Judy traveled to La Junta to meet up with his cousins and have supper at the Village Inn. Afterwards, all of them attended the volleyball game between Otero and Northeastern Junior College of Sterling. Larry's cousin’s daughter played for the Otero team. They had a very enjoyable evening.

My sister, Jerene DeBono, and I braved the cold and misty weather and went to Scott City to attend the Whimmydiddle Craft Show in the park Saturday. The nasty weather didn't seem to bother as there were lots of vendors and a large crowd in attendance.

The Plainview volleyball girls team traveled to Karval Saturday to play Genoa-Hugo. For your info, the Karval girls play volleyball with the Genoa-Hugo team. Upon returning, the Plainview team and Benje Davis, Alex Schmidt and Kyle Scott gathered at the home of Jennifer Wilson to help Zoe Chai celebrate her birthday. Zoe is a foreign exchange student at Plainview and lives with Miss Wilson. Happy birthday Zoe!
