From the Extension Agent’s Desk – Time to Order Seedlings
Spring seems like forever away but now is the time to be thinking about tree and shrub planting for spring! The CSU Seedling Tree Program has begun and we are, as always, excited to provide this service to you. There is a large variety of deciduous trees and shrubs available this year. There is no longer a minimum acreage requirement to order trees, but the nursery stock is to be used for conservation purposes only.
Trees are looking good for most species this year but there are a few species that are in limited supply so get your order in early. Supplies of trees and plants are limited to a first-come, first-serve bases. Orders will be taken until March 6, 2018 and the trees will be delivered to the Extension Office late March.
There is a buyer’s guide and a how to guide on the Southeast Area Website:
http://sea.extension.colostate.edu/programs/agriculture-natural-resources/. Just follow the links on this page and you will be able to get all the information you need. We also have information here in the office.
If you have any questions concerning the seedling tree program, completing the order form, selecting trees, or if we can be of any assistance please let us know by stopping in or calling 719-438-5321. Once again, please don’t wait too long and let the good ones get away!
