Four more earthquakes, ranging in magnitude from 1.6 to 2.4 on the Richter Scale, occurred west of Snowmass Village in Colorado’s western mountains Tuesday. All were located in Gunnison County.

The area was shaken by 11 quakes over a 36-hour period between January 19 and 20. Those quakes ranged from 1.1 to 2.8 in magnitude and were located in Gunnison and Pitkin Counties.

The most recent quakes happened about one mile beneath the surface, while most of the earlier group were about three miles deep.

Since January 19, 16 earthquakes have occurred in or close to Colorado. In addition to the cluster of 15 earthquakes, one occurred January 20 24 miles south of Trinidad just across the Colorado-New Mexico border.
