Gardner: Trump Should Step Aside

Colorado Senator Cory Gardner

Colorado Senator Cory Gardner has called for Presidential candidate Donald Trump to step aside following the discovery of audio from 2005 in which he made remarks deemed derogatory and abusive to women.

Gardner released the following statement on Twitter:

“Millions of Americans are set to choose between two people to lead this nation. One candidate is a danger to our Constitution, freedoms and security, who would sell our national security to the highest bidder and finalize the destruction of the rule of law. The other– a candidate whose flaws are beyond mere mortal shortcomings and who shows a digust for American character and a disdain for dignity unbecoming of the Presidency. I cannot and will not support someone who brags about degrading and insulting women.

I am committed to defeating Hillary Clinton. The only way this is now possible is with a new nominee that reflects the values of our country and our party. I will not vote for Donald Trump. If Donald Trump wishes to defeat Hillary Clinton, he should do the only thing that will allow us to do so– step aside, and allow Mike Pence to be the Republican party’s nominee. If he fails to do so, I will not vote for Hillary Clinton but will instead write in my vote for Mike Pence.”
