Governor Polis appoints District Attorney for the 16th Judicial District

Colorado Governor Jared Polis has appointed James R. Bullock as the District Attorney for the 16th Judicial District. This appointment is effective April 13, 2024, and fills a vacancy created by the appointment of District Attorney William J. Culver to the Otero County Court.

Bullock is the Assistant District Attorney for the 16th Judicial District, a position he has held since 2021. His practice consists of criminal prosecution. Previously, he served as the elected District Attorney for the 16th Judicial District (2012-2021); Member of Bullock Law Office (1996-2012); Partner with the Law Firm of Lefferdink and Bullock (1986-1996); and Associate Attorney with the Law Firm of Lefferdink and Davis (1984-1986).

He earned his B.A. from the University of Northern Colorado in 1980 and his J.D. from Gonzaga University in 1984.

Colorado’s 16th Judicial District includes Bent, Crowley, and Otero counties.
