Governor Jared Polis has appointed M. Christina Floyd to the Lake County Court in the 5th Judicial District and Jeffrey M. Cure to the Kit Carson County Court in the 13th Judicial District.

Floyd's appointment fills the vacancy created by the resignation of the Honorable John G. Scott and is effective immediately. Cure's appointment fills the vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Michael K. Grinnan and is effective September 1, 2026.

Floyd is the Founder and Managing Attorney at Rocky Mountain General Counsel, LLC, a position she has held since 2019, with a practice consisting of civil matters. She previously served as County Attorney (2021-2025) and Special Counsel (2016-2020) for the Lake County Attorney's Office, and as Presiding Municipal Judge for the City of Leadville (2020-2025). Earlier in her career she held positions at Vandeventer Black, LLP; Hall Automotive; Metro Information Services, Inc.; Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore; and served as a Law Clerk for Judge William Prince, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (1992-1993). Floyd earned her B.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1982 and her J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1992.

Cure has served as Municipal Judge for the Town of Flagler and the Town of Seibert since 2011, with dockets consisting of civil matters. He is also a Partner at Richards Carrington, LLC, a position he has held since 2025, and was previously a Partner at CureLaw, PC (2009-2025). Cure earned his B.A. from Metropolitan State University in 2005 and his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2008.
