Beginning March 10, construction will resume on the US Highway 50 Las Animas improvements project. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2025.

Traffic Impacts

Motorists and area residents can expect the following impacts during construction: 

Traffic will be reduced on US 50 to single lane, head-to-head traffic in both directions from Vine Street to Elm Street.

• Daytime work from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Reduced speeds in the work zone.
• Plan ahead and expect short delays. 
• Construction schedules are weather dependent.

Project Overview

Work on the project includes surface treatment, Americans with Disabilities Act ramp replacements and drainage improvements. Once complete, the project will improve drivability for motorists and provide safer conditions for pedestrians and people using assistive devices, such as wheelchairs.
