Pretty cool to be part of such a great first responder team! These folks did an outstanding job performing lifesaving interventions during a cardiac call back in March. They were all recognized at the RETAC meeting today

Dispatch: Michelle Garza provided amazing support to the RP who initiated CPR until law enforcement arrived. She paged out appropriate services very quickly as well. Great work Michelle. We appreciate you and your quick thinking and guidance.

Law Enforcement: Deputy Hogue and Undersheriff Marlow gained access to the patient, performed great CPR, and provided easy access for EMS on their arrival. Thank you guys for your amazingly quick response and your lifesaving interventions. Great work fellas

EMS: Cynthia Newton, Brandi Thompson, & Ken Flory responded very quickly to the scene and took over CPR. After performing 3 rounds of CPR a pulse was felt. Patient had ROSC and was soon talking to EMS/ED Nurse staff upon arrival at Weisbrod Memorial.

What makes this story even more amazing is the fact that the two EMTs are barely a year into being EMT certified and a driver that does far more than “just drive”. They worked as a team and did great things. There were no monitors and no drugs available to this team as the ambulance service is BLS only.

The only tools used on this entire scene was a basic AED that is found in all sorts of public places and a BVM. They each used their personal skills and knowledge to do what was best for the patient and those skills saved a life. I couldn’t be more proud!

Thank you all for your efforts. You should all be proud of your work and not just shrug it off and say “it’s just part of the job”. This is a time for some good energy and please pat yourselves on the back. It’s an honor to be part of such great first responders. Thank you all for everything that you do!
