Kiowa County junior livestock beef weigh-in held
Kiowa County Beef weigh in was held February 18 at the Kiowa County Fairgrounds. A big thank you to the county maintenance crew for cleaning the snow drifts that would have made it impossible to get cattle on the scales.
There were eight head of beef animals, all steers, weighed in by seven youth participants.
One steer was weighed in under the new Family Animal rule. This rule makes it possible for an animal to be shared by the family and used in the event of a member losing an animal.
The steers weighed 478 to 811, of all them but one is eligible for the average daily gain contest.
We will have five senior, one intermediate, and one junior first time participant.
Good luck to these members as they start feeding, training, and learning more of what it means to be a part of the livestock industry and food system.
