Colorado Bureau of Investigation agents and the La Junta Police Department executed a search warrant Friday at 1314 San Juan Ave. in La Junta, resulting in six arrests, multiple firearms seizures, and recovery of fentanyl and methamphetamine. The operation targeted a home linked to drug distribution and illegal weapons after repeated community complaints.

During the raid, occupants at the home initially refused to comply with officers’ commands and barricaded themselves inside. Less-than-lethal tactics were then used to enter the home. Ezekiel Aguilar, 30, tried to flee but was caught in the backyard. Jaycob Butts, 30, hid in a closet but was found during the search; he resisted arrest before being taken into custody. Adrianna Smith, 33; Jordan Del Rio, 33; and Jeremy Del Rio, 28 also fled the home after police entered.

A total of six firearms were recovered: an SKS battle rifle, a homemade semi-automatic short-barreled rifle with a homemade suppressor, and three other weapons. The items lacked serial numbers, violating Colorado law and federal regulations under the National Firearms Act. Authorities also seized 143 grams of fentanyl (estimated at 1,430 pills), 17 grams of methamphetamine, and U.S. currency.

Zachary James, 41, was arrested later that day after arriving at the scene with outstanding felony warrants. Charges against the suspects include obstruction, resisting arrest, unlawful distribution, and possession of illegal weapons. Jordan Del Rio and Jeremy Del Rio are flagged as “Special Offenders,” a designation for repeat felons in Colorado.

“This operation highlights our commitment to addressing drug and firearms trafficking in La Junta,” said La Junta Police Chief Todd Quick. “Collaborative efforts like this help protect our communities from dangerous crimes.”

The investigation remains active, and additional charges could be filed.
