Terri Jo (Klassen) Thompson, age 64, passed away unexpectedly May 22, 2024.

Terri was born January 19, 1960 in Vona to Loyd and Opal Klassen.  She was welcomed home by older siblings Bruce, Diane, Marsha, Verl, and Troy.  The family later welcomed younger sister, Virginia.

Terri grew up on the family farm north of Vona and told stories of helping with farm work and riding her bike down the hills on the dirt roads with Virginia.  Terri attended Liberty High School in Joes and graduated in 1978.  She went on to attend and graduate from Parks Business College in Denver.

Terri married Sid Thompson September 12, 1981, and to this union two children were born, Danielle (1988) and Kevin (1994).  Terri was blessed to be able to be a devoted stay at home Mom and took great pride in caring for her family.  She always made sure everyone had what they needed when they needed it.  The family attended First Baptist Church for many years in which Terri helped with many church programs and activities.  The marriage dissolved in 2007.

After her children were older, Terri began working outside of the home.  Terri worked as a cook-caregiver for many years.  Over the years, she cared for many people, both young and old.  She also worked as a greeting card merchandiser for American Greetings.

Terri was devout in her faith, and was a strong Christian woman.  She attended church services, was an avid listener to KGCR Christian radio station, and read and studied her Bible often.

Terri was very proud and excited to be a grandma to her three grandsons, Kolbren, Kettrick, and Kollin.  She attended as many of their events as possible, and spent lots of quality time with them.  She could always be counted on to play a game, work on a jigsaw puzzle, make her delicious Puppy Chow, and do so many other fun things with them.

She made sure her children and grandchildren knew how much she loved them, and how proud of them she was.  She was always their biggest fan.  She was never quick to anger, could always be counted on to be a good listener, and would often have a piece of advice or a scripture that was relevant.  She was a strong, humble woman who had a kind and gracious heart.  She was often selfless, and would help others without expecting anything in return.

Preceding her in death are her parents; brother, Bruce; infant brother, Aubrey; sisters, Diane and Marsha; and brother-in-law, John Johnson.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Danielle (Jake) Pelton of Cheyenne Wells; son, Kevin Thompson (Morgan) of Burlington; grandsons, Kolbren, Kettrick, and Kollin Pelton of Cheyenne Wells; brothers, Verl (Susie) Klassen of Maui, Hawaii, and Troy (DeLeis) Klassen of Vona; sister, Virginia (Johnnie) Johnson of Kalispell, Montana; brother-in-law, Kurt Veit of Boise, Idaho; uncle, and Carl (Mary) Fuhlendorf of Denver; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services were held May 31, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home in Cheyenne Wells, followed by a graveside service at Fairview Cemetery in Cheyenne Wells.

Memorial contributions may be made at any Eastern Colorado Bank location to the Terri Thompson Memorial Fund.

Arrangements were under the direction of Brown Funeral Homes.
