25 Years Ago - November 27, 1998

  • Fire and smoke heavily damaged a rental of Marty Barnett’s, but did not result in any injuries to the tenants, Monica and Stacy Uhland.
  • The Kiowa County 4-H Council selected Alice Glover to receive the Meritorious Service Award.

40 Years Ago - December 2, 1983

  • The snow storm which kept up for more than 36 hours dumped from 3 to 10 inches of snow throughout the county. Drifts in some parts of Eads were 5-6 feet high.

50 Years Ago - November 30, 1973

  • The Biannual alumni reunion of the consolidated school district at Plainview was held with approximately 90 people attending.

75 Years Ago - November 26, 1948

  • Eads was missed by a big blizzard. Surrounding communities reported damages from the destructive storm.
