• The Town of Eads Board of Trustees voted to freeze salaries for the second consecutive year.
• Polly Johnson, a fifth generation rancher, was selected by faculty members for CSU Department of Animal Science as 2009 Livestock Leader.
• The Eads High School Knowledge Bowl A team won the championship trophy at Knowledge Bowl Tourney in which 36 teams competed.

• USDA Update-Rod Johnson: A very important meeting date - January 26, 1999, to discuss the possibility relocating an oil crushing plant for sunflower and other oil seed in Kiowa County.

40 Years Ago - January 27, 1984

• Unless participation in the 1984 wheat program is relatively high, we can expect the wheat supply to reach record levels and further drop prices according to Rod Johnson.
