- Mary Marble was honored by the National League of Postmasters for her many years of membership in the League, having joined in 1952 and still maintains her membership.
- Kit Carson Clips- Marilyn White: Ronald and Shirley White went to Soloman, Kansas, after combine parts. Ronald is planning on a wheat harvest.
25 Years Ago - May 7, 1999
- Recent rains and subsequent flooding caused culverts and roadbeds to washed out across Kiowa County .The Kiowa County Commissioners signed a declaration calling all Kiowa County a disaster area.
40 Years Ago - May 11, 1984
- Rhua Sloan, a well-known and long-time educator in Kiowa County, was honored by Unity Lodge No. 142 AF & AM with the Award of Excellence.
- Casie Rehm of Eads will appear with Kris Wellbrock of Denver in a full-color front cover on the June issue of the Colorado Farm Bureau New magazine.
50 Years Ago - May 10, 1974
- Due to vandalism, all kinds of theft, traffic violations, minors use of alcohol, and severe drug problems, Kiowa County Sheriff Kelley stated the department will be working as a team midnight to daylight.
75 Years Ago - 1949
- Two new service stations will open soon on Highway 287 on the south part of Eads. Ray Clark is putting in a machine shop and Roy Sibcy is in the process of building. Otto J. Ebright is expected to put a new Standard station in near future.
100 Years Ago - 1924
- Mrs. W.F. Bennett has 400 eggs setting. Mrs. Frank Carter is running two incubators. Mrs. R.C. Burnett has 40 hens setting, and most of the women have a flock of young chicks.
