- A meeting was held to gather information to see what the public would like at Jackson’s Pond. Jackson’s Pond has seen an increase pressure from people fishing due in part from low water levels at the Great Plains Reservoirs.
- Kit Carson Clips- Marilyn White: While talking on the phone with Jennie Schreivogel, she became upset while looking out the window and seeing a large deer nibbling on her tulips.
25 Years Ago - April 14, 2000
- USDA Update- Rod Johnson: We are receiving reports of mites and green bugs in the growing winter wheat.
- Wild Horse Roundup- Curtis Schrimp: There was a large prairie fire east of here. I was told it burned 2,000 acres and high wind was the cause. It ripped a transformer from a power pole.
40 Years Ago - April 12, 1985
- A new “Quick Response Emergency Vehicle” was added to the Kiowa County fire fighting and emergency response capabilities.
50 Years Ago - April 11, 1975
- The ambulance service has been in discussion the past many months between the County Commissioners and Kiowa County Hospital Board as to who is responsible for maintaining the ambulance.
75 Years Ago - April 14, 1950
- The Eads Volunteer Fire Department is not only performing services for the town, but the county as well. They have succeeded in preventing much damage from fires located outside the city limits and should be commended for the help they offer.
100 Years Ago - 1925
- Roads in the vicinity of Eads are being given a thorough dragging with week, and tourists coming through are praising the conditions of highways all through the county.
