- USDA Update- Rod Johnson: The winds have not been kind to the wheat or the conditions in general. Recent fires in the Arkansas Valley and Baca County remind us all to be careful when working outside.

- Wild Horse Roundup- Curtis Schrimp: Coming back from Hugo, via Arriba, 10 miles south of Arriba the road was mud. I wouldn’t have cared if it was our road, but ours was dry.
40 Years Ago - April 11, 1986
- Division of Wildlife reported Michael Derrel McLoud of Eads caught a record breaking 23 1/3 inch, 8 pound,12 ounce wiper at Nee Noshe Reservoir.
50 Years Ago - April 9, 1976
- Jerri Legg became what is believed to be the first female mayor in the history of Eads in a record turnout for an Eads election.
- The Kiowa County Bicentennial Committee is still in need of photos and other information of the county.
- The United States Air Force is to use a small portion of the air space over extreme western portions of Kiowa County for training. The flights would be high level and will not cause sonic booms.
75 Years Ago - April 13, 1951
- Melvin Richardson, a high school senior, is to have a tryout with the Pueblo Dodgers baseball team
100 Years Ago - April 9, 1926
- The snows and rains a few weeks ago brought the fields to life, and the cool weather has been ideal for the growing and stooling of wheat.
- Small Pox was found in a family at Brandon. School was dismissed for a short time. All children and others who desire, will be vaccinated Friday of this week.
- Towner News: We hear some talk of Towner installing a city light plant.
