  • Who would have ever guessed on a Sunday afternoon, at a small restaurant in the middle of Texas, would two Eads graduates have a chance meeting. Pat Roper and Bob Carthel proved what a small world we live in.
  • Kit Carson Clips –Marilyn White: We got our fix for basketball at Hugo watching seven games of elementary boys and girls play.
  • We are pleased to announce the promotion of Ted Abrams to Chief Technology Officer. Ted began his career at SpectraSite in 2000.

  • About Town – Ida Lessenden: I could not believe February 9 in my south yard a beautiful yellow crocus. I am ready for spring, but we have February, March and April to go yet before winter is really over.
  • Towner Tales –Ann Harkness: The area was blessed with over eight inches of snow. There was some wind causing drifts in places.
  • At the regular monthly meeting, Eads Town Council rejected a proposed low-income housing project.

February 15, 1980

  • Miss Doris Lessenden, who was named Eads “Citizen of the Year” by the Eads Chamber of Commerce, was honored at a reception.
  • From the Sheriff’s Desk –Floyd Griswould: There isn’t much to report from the Sheriff desk as we have been spending a lot of time in the office because we have had two prisoners since the 4th.

February 13, 1970

  • The Kiowa County Grand Jury will meet at the District Courtroom in Eads for the purpose of taking testimony on complaints of cattle rustling or other criminal offense by aggrieved persons who desire such matter investigated.
  • Law officers are still looking for two unidentified men who held up the Home Oil and Kozy Korner Kafe.
