- The Eads Board of Trustees voted to reduce contribution funds to the Kiowa County Sheriff by 47 percent.

- Removal of the highway surface began in Eads with detours around town will be in place for several months.
- Eads High School American history students recreated living conditions from the Great Depressions as part of a class project at the Lessenden farm.

- A new medical clinic is being constructed in Eads and is expected to be completed in early August.
- Fern Schoggen’s sold lock, stock and barrel, Schoggen Grocery, which closed the doors of Eads oldest continuing business. It had been open 60 years.

- Long-predicted fuel shortage has hit Kiowa County. The anticipated far-above-average wheat harvest finds itself in extreme jeopardy.
- A big fun-filled “old Fashioned Fourth of July” is in store for area citizens who schedule time in Eads. Included are a horseshoe tournament, foot races, a bicycle rodeo, a flea market, softball game, fireworks, and a Fourth of July dance sponsored by the Lions Club.
