- Kit Carson Clips- Marilyn White: James Rigsby, Archie, Teresa and Robert Cloud and I went to Albuquerque to watch the Balloon Festival. 700 balloons were release at intervals, 20-25 at time. I don’t believe any two were alike.
- Amendments 53, 55, 56, and 57 would be withdrawn from the General Election ballot

- Kiowa County Commissioners met in regular session. No budget cuts are planned for 1999 county budget.
- Wild Horse Roundup- Curtis Schrimp: Marty and I found a balloon in the trees in the creek with the name Britany. Wish she had put from where it came from so we could see how far it traveled.
- Nursing Home News- Nellie Nickert: The nursing home is taking full advantage of the dentist in Eads. Don’t be misled because he is willing to serve in a rural community, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his hands on the latest equipment.

October 14, 1983
- Pauline Shoup of Lamar has made application to the Town of Eads for a Tavern License for a prospective new tavern to open in Eads at 1307 Maine Street.
- Westbound Missouri Pacific train derailed in Arlington. All 11 cars were flatbed and empty.
- The Kiowa County Nurse’s office has been moved from the courthouse to the old clinic building next the hospital.

October 12, 1973
- Queens Lake and Lake Nee Noshe will be open for boating and fishing until October 20. Lower Queens and Sweetwater will remain open through goose hunting season.
- Fred Williams reports catching a 25-inch blue catfish at Queens Lake.
