The eighth annual Pedal the Plains bicycle tour returns to southeast Colorado in 2019, with stops in Lamar, Holly and Springfield, along with an option to ride to Coolidge, Syracuse, Johnson City and Manter, Kansas, during the second day for a 103 mile trip.

This year’s tour will be held September 13-15. In addition to views of the southeast Colorado plains across the 200 mile route, tour participants can also listen to live music, locally-sourced food, and educational exhibits.

Route Schedule

  • Day 1 - Friday, September 13 - Lamar to Holly - Day 1 will include a visit to Coolidge Kansas where there will be an Aid Station at Cousin Eddie's Visitor Center. Cousin Eddie is the hilarious family member visited by Chevy Chase’s character Clark Griswold and family in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation movie! It is rumored that Dorothy & Toto might be at the border as you reenter Colorado!
  • Day 2 - Saturday, September 14 - Holly to Springfield (Includes Century & Gravel Options) - On Day 2 the Century Option will travel south from Coolidge to Johnson City to add that extra mileage.
  • Day 3 - Sunday, September 15 - Springfield to Lamar
