The Prowers County Courthouse was built in 1928-1929 and the dedication on August 1, 1929, states “Probably the crowning achievement of the building is the court room on the third floor.”  After years of fading and water damage, the courtroom has now been restored to its original beauty.  The Prowers County Courts will be hosting an Open House on Friday, December 16, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the community to view this restoration project and honor the people who were instrumental in this accomplishment.  Please join us on December 16 as we express our sincere appreciation to our County Commissioners, Mr. Ron Cook, Mr. Henry Schnabel and Ms. Wendy Buxton-Andrade; County Administrator, Ms. Jo Dorenkamp; County Operations Supervisor, Mr. Kirk Powers; DOLA Manager, Mr. Lee Merkel; Conservator, Ms. Victoria Montana Ryan; Project Manager, Ms. Charise Boomsma; EverGreene Architectural artists, Mr. Rick Wagner, Ms. Jeann Holliman and Mr. Allen Kehde.   This project was made possible by the award of a DOLA grant.
